Rudy Project will be the official eyewear of the Australian Open for three more years.Rudy Project was once again stylishly present at this season‘s first important tennis event. For the fourth consecutive year, the company has in fact been confirmed as the official eyewear of the Australian Grand Slam which took place in Melbourne Park, Australia from the 16th to the 29th of January 2006.

Over one thousand competition adjudicators, linesmen and ball boys wore the technical Rudy Project Kalyos model sunglasses with the new photochromatic ImpactX lenses. These lenses, which have unique characteristics, are made in NXT®, a material that is part of a family of patented optical polyurethane polymers which are transparent and shatterproof and which guarantee excellent optical qualities in terms of lightness and durability. Thanks to the latest generation photochromatic polarized technology, these lenses have a superior visual clearness in all weather conditions, making images appear clearer and more defined with a limitation of the rainbow effect and an increase in visual comfort.

This important, unique sporting event was seen by over forty thousand spectators per day and was therefore a valid testing ground for the new Rudy Project technologies.
"We had the possibility of testing our products in extreme climatic conditions of over 40° and for hundreds of playing hours", commented Cristiano Barbazza, chairman of Rudy Project. "In tennis in fact, the competition adjudicators must remain concentrated for lengthy periods of time and follow the movements of the ball at speeds of over 200 km/h, this causes notable eye fatigue".
"We received lots of favourable comments from all the management staff - continues Barbazza - regarding the superior optical performance of our ImpactX lenses, which are made of NXT®, and this is a great source of pride for us".

In light of the success obtained in fact, Rudy Project has sealed a new and important agreement which will make it the official eyewear of the Australian Open for three more years.
