Rudy Project sunglasses have been recruited as part of the Desafío Español team for the 32nd edition of the America’s Cup, the most fascinating sailing competition in the world, and the first in Europe since 1851. The Spanish crew have been very busy over the past few days with the challenge of the Louis Vuitton Cup Act 10, one of the match race regattas that anticipate the final phases of the 2007 in Valencia. The 2006 edition of the America’s Cup is in fact due to take place in Mediterranean Spain, and the winner of the Louis Vuitton Cup will be admitted to take on the challenge of the Swiss team, Alinghi, holder of the title won in Auckland in 2003.
The members of the sailing team undoubtedly have no shortage of fighting spirit, character or determination, coupled with an excellent physical and mental spirit, but their equipment also plays a fundamental role.
For this reason the Desafío Español team have chosen to wear Rudy Project sunglasses fitted with ImpactX Polarised Photocromic lenses, as a guarantee of high performance and unequalled visual comfort.
The Spanish team, which is participating in the America’s Cup for the fourth time, after the Louis Vuitton Cups of 1992, 1995 and 1999, has selected highly technological lenses that take advantage of the NXT® patented material which is transparent and shatterproof, assuring excellent levels of protection, reliability and performance as well as increased durability with respect to polycarbonate. Photochromatic lenses that offer a never before seen light management technology, darkening within the space of a few seconds as light intensity increases. Given that they are also polarised, these lenses eliminate annoying reflections, increasing contrast and the perception of depth. The Desafío Español crew can therefore count on maximum eye protection and perfect vision, allowing them to concentrate on the competition at hand without the risk of distraction.
