Rudy Project once again made its presence felt at the Ford Ironman World Championship, the legendary triathlon competition held each year in Hawaii.
In the women‘s competition, the first step of the podium went to the Rudy Project sponsored athlete Michellie Jones. The thirty-seven year old American, who already won second place in 2005 on her début in the Ironman event, gave a demonstration of great endurance in all three disciplines (swimming, cycling and running), ending her trial in 9 h 18‘31‘‘.
Among the men, a convincing second place, 1‘06" behind the winner, went to Australian champion Chris McCormack who gave a gritty performance in an extremely gruelling contest.
For the champions in the third discipline, Rudy Project supplied top-quality equipment.
Michellie Jones and Chris McCormack were able to rely on the high performance of the brand-new Sportmask goggles from Rudy Project‘s new 2007 collection. Their incomparable lightness, interchangeable lenses and adjustable silicone nose piece makes these sunglasses ideal, and highly distinctive with great fashion appeal. The technical performance is truly outstanding: the Grilamid TR 55 LX frame ensures structural integrity and stability, the innovative Quick Change lens replacement system means they have optimal reactions to any changes in weather conditions, and the Silpad nose section with hypoallergenic non-toxic silicone pads is adjustable and non-slip.
Michellie Jones and Chris McCormack played another ace with the new Syton Carbon helmet. After being tested at the Tour de France, and having won the white jersey with up and coming young star Damiano Cunego, it was again on the champions‘ podium. Designed to provide maximum airflow control while offering high safety standards, Syton Carbon is made with careful attention to detail - the only way to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance.
